A little unstitching

I did a little switcheroo (top row blue basket traded for the right column blue guy, 4th square down -- I call him Mr. Tippy).  When Mr. Tippy was at the top, it just screamed at me how "off" it was.  The tippy-ness seems less obvious now. (Of course, I shouldn't have squared up my basket blocks in two sessions, late at night. Nothing like asking for inconsistencies!) Next step--quilting.

The columbine looks happy today (I like to assign feelings to my plants).

Baskets: Top finished

My basket flimsy is not trimmed yet, but I had to take a photo while there was decent light. Some of the baskets are wibbly-wobbly (some tipping a little left, some a little right...guess I should have trimmed those blocks all at the same time to keep the wobble consistent). I'm not redoing them! Now on to the quilting phase.

Baskets: Further tweaking

Trial setting triangles

I couldn't stand it and had to add some potential setting triangles. Click on the photo to make it bigger; what do you think? I will probably have to recut these if I decide to go with them because "someone" (not me) likes everything to be cut exactly on grain and square, even though the fabric was skewed on the bolt. I have to think how to do this (maybe wet the fabric and dry it)?

Here is a close-up of one of the baskets so you can see the setting fabric better and see that the black in the nine patches is not a solid black.

Basket progress

My baskets and nine patches are done; now to decide on the setting triangles and final layout. We'll be working to finish our tax paperwork this weekend (tax accountant appointment Monday morning). After that I'm relatively free to play!

Baskets: Progress peek

Just showing some progress. This is how I plan to set my baskets. I didn't want to make a bunch of 9 patches then decide I hated them. But these look like they'll do just fine. I'm doing 20 baskets, so 7 more to go!
I'm stitching some while watching Michigan State basketball this afternoon. Hope I don't get too excited and draw blood (my own).
